Union College- Study circles

Yesterday, I went to Union College with a select few kids from my school. High schools all over schenectady county attended as well. We had numbers on our name tags and the number was the group we were going to be with. At first, we watched a video on Rosa Parks, I really enjoyed that. It brought chills to my body. The study circles I was in was excellant. The kids were very different but we learned that a lot of us had a lot in common. We did numerous activites to get everyone to know each other. The topic was racism, we discussed on going racism and our thoughts about how the obama election is going. I met a lot of new people and people I'd probably never be around but it was interesting. I will be going back next tuesday with the same group of kids to discuss another topic. This was a great experience.

Atria at the Crossgate [Enriched Living]

Yesterday on November 4th, I went to the Atria near Crossgates Commons. It's an "Eriched living" community and it can hold up to 83 elders. There are some separate apartments with some two bedroom apartments. Kev Bevan (Mr. Bevans father) is the "Engaged life director". We met with him and we took a tour around the complex. We met with Janis and Billy. They are very important people and they help run Atria. Atria is $3200 a month, it provides 3 healthy meals a day, medical assistance, bingo, many activites. Laundry services are an extra $45 a month. It is a privatly owned buisness but has many other places around. I really enjoyed this visit. The elder community are very nice and It was a really good opportunity. I enjoyed it very much.

AYS

On October 21st, At the Marriot I was in the AYS deparement with Stephanie. I answered phones and directed calls to Stephanie. I enjoyed working with her and yasmin but at times it was diffacult and busy.
The AYS workers are usally in a back office and i dont think id like that much but for the time being, it wasnt that bad. Stephanie told me "Im not doing this for the money, Im doing it for the experience" so that's good. I enjoyed working with her and seeing what she does everyday.

orientation

It wasnt as fun as the acutal first day but the granola bars were good. So much for a nice yummy breakfast. I liked the video, it showed what they expected from their workers. Tom Olsen seemed like a pretty good guy and I thought meeting all the deparentment heads was pretty sweet. I thought the games were a nice ice breaker to get everyone started.
Peacee
