Convention and visitors center

We went to downtown Albany again to visit the Albany convention and visitors bereau. This was neat because we got a chance to watch the history of Albany in a very nice theater. We talked to 3 different people who were very nice and hardworking for the sake of Albany. It was a cool experience but i didnt really enjoy it that much. I liked Maureen the best, she was a very nice and interesting lady. It was alright but i dont want to go there again.

Mansion Hill Inn

Our class took a trip to downtown Albany to look around our teachers bed and breakfast. It is located near many office buildings, which is good for upcoming law students who need to take the bar exam and it is good for buisness travelers. The kitchen is small but very nice and the dinning room is well put together. The rooms are separate from the kitchen and dinning room. The rooms are nice, a little old fashioned but they are well taken care of. On the beds, there is a note from the owners (Mr. Steflano and his wife) saying that they hope everyone enjoys there stay and if they need anything to call. Inside the dinning room there is a fireplace with a wine menu, so it sets the mood for a romantic evening. There is a bottle of wine for $600, which is pretty interesting. There logo is "Albanys best kept secret" which is also very nice.

Homewood Suites

We recently went to Homewood Suites on Wolf road. It is an extended stay hotel and it is very nice. It works closely with insurance companies for victims of natural diasters, people who lose their homes and need a place to stay. The suites are studio, 2 bedrooms and 3 bedrooms. They come with everything needed in a normal house. Including silverware, a gym (open 24/7) a pool and jacuzzi, a basketball court, a smoking area, tv/game systems, nice showers, very soft and comfortable linen, couchs and dinner every day with a planned out menu. The homewood Suites is fairly new and they are owned by turf hotels, who also just opened The Hampton Inn in Saratoga. This is one the nicest hotels we've been to.

Banquets with Kristy

February 24th, I was in Banquets with Kristy. Since the Marriott is short staffed Kristy was found doing many different jobs. She talked about how to set up the different meeting rooms. Kristy is the Director of banquets, she is also Debra right hand lady. We went through the alcohol room while Kristy was taking in a delivery. She has to make sure that everything is right and that the delivery is what they orderded. She is often very busy because payroll was cut due to the economic times. Kristy is doing a very good job of keeping up banquets. She is always very busy.
This was a very cool experience.

the desmond

Yesterday on February 3rd, I went to the Albany Desmond and cooked with the kitchen crew. I met with the head chef, he was amazingg. I was with Sandy all day, she was a very interesting but also a lot of fun. I learned so much and I made a huge salad with one of the supervisors, Dave. He was very talented and had a great personality. I really liked the kitchen crew at the Desmond, they were a great group of people. What characters!. The experience yesterday was a great one and I'm really glad I got to go. The desmond is a beautiful property and the people are wonderful.

Union College- Study circles

Yesterday, I went to Union College with a select few kids from my school. High schools all over schenectady county attended as well. We had numbers on our name tags and the number was the group we were going to be with. At first, we watched a video on Rosa Parks, I really enjoyed that. It brought chills to my body. The study circles I was in was excellant. The kids were very different but we learned that a lot of us had a lot in common. We did numerous activites to get everyone to know each other. The topic was racism, we discussed on going racism and our thoughts about how the obama election is going. I met a lot of new people and people I'd probably never be around but it was interesting. I will be going back next tuesday with the same group of kids to discuss another topic. This was a great experience.
